Privacy Policy
Effective Date: January 3, 2017

This website is developed and maintained by Collective Shift, a nonprofit organization that includes, but is not limited to, projects such as LRNG, Cities of LRNG, GlassLab, and the Badge Alliance (hereinafter "Collective Shift," "we" or "us"). When you visit our website, mobile app, or other online properties, collectively “sites,” Collective Shift may collect and use certain information about you. Collective Shift recognizes that you care about how your information is used, and your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we may collect and use your information, particularly your personal information, and the choices you can make about what information you share.

This Privacy Policy applies only to our sites, and covers only information collected in connection with your access and use of our sites. Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By continuing to interact with our sites, you are agreeing to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We ask that you read this Privacy Policy from time to time. Collective Shift may modify this Privacy Policy at any time in its sole discretion. If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy that increase our rights to use personal information we have previously collected about you, we will obtain your consent either through an email to your registered email address or by prominent posting on our sites.

Where Collective Shift has entered into agreements with third party organizations to provide access to our sites and services (“Partner Organizations”), and those Partner Organizations create accounts on behalf of users (“Partner Organization Accounts”), we will notify the primary contact at the Partner Organization to obtain consent prior to implementing any material changes to this Privacy Policy that increase our rights to use personal information we have previously collected in connection with Partner Organization Accounts.

What Information Does Collective Shift Collect About You?

Collective Shift collects information about you when you interact with our sites.

For accounts created by Partner Organizations, as well as each Partner Organization’s own account, we collect information provided to us by such Partner Organization as set forth in our Terms of Use and the specific agreement with such Partner Organization.

For accounts created directly with us (“Collective Shift User Accounts”), we collect information you provide to us including, but not limited to, your name, email address, phone number, photographs, and birthday.

Once an account has been created, we also collect information related to the activities users engage in on the sites, such as audio, video, text, photographs, or other materials, including so-called "user- generated content" and "feedback" (collectively, "User Submissions") and progress towards and achievement of badges.

In addition, we may automatically collect information about the devices you use to interact with our sites. The information we automatically collect may include your IP address, device identifier, web browser type and version, and browsing information including date and time of browsing. Collective Shift may also automatically collect information about how you use our sites, such as what you have searched for and viewed with our sites.

Collective Shift sites do not collect personal information about your online activities over time and across third-party websites or online services. Therefore, “do not track” signals transmitted from web browsers do not apply to our sites, and we do not alter any of our data collection and use practices upon receipt of such a signal.

How Does Collective Shift Protect Children’s Privacy?

Some of the features on our sites are age-gated so that they are not available for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 in connection with those features. A child age 13 or younger is ONLY permitted to create a Collective Shift User Account under the following conditions:

  • An affiliated Partner Organization has first provided information to Collective Shift in accordance with the permissions it has received to share the information with Collective Shift; AND
  • The parent or legal guardian of the child under 13 has been notified of the child’s interest in creating a Collective Shift User Account; AND
  • Consent has been obtained from the child’s parent or legal guardian to allow the child to create a Collective Shift User Account; AND
  • The parent or legal guardian is provided with full access to the child’s account and the ability to monitor and shut down the child’s account at any time.

The information collected from a child age 13 or younger who has a Collective Shift User Account is limited to no more than is reasonably necessary to allow the child to participate in the sites (as age-gated).

If we obtain actual knowledge that any information we collect directly from or about a user age 13 or younger has not been provided in compliance with these terms, we will promptly delete that information.
